Miss Pearl was born and raised in the birthplace of hip hop- the Bronx, New York. At a very young age, Pearl explored her love for music and dance by watching street performances and performing in multiple productions and charity events around New York. After moving to Canada in 2004, Pearl continued honing her skills as a dancer learning from various teachers in Ottawa. Over the years, Pearl has performed at local events and festivals including the National Art Centre, City Hall, National Art Gallery, House of Paint and the University of Ottawa with NRG Dance Production and Luv2Groove™. In 2016, Pearl completed a BA in Psychology at the University of Ottawa where she focused on child development.
In addition, she was an Behavioural Therapist at Portia Learning Centre from 2016-2018; where she worked with children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other developmental disabilities; to develop and enhance each child’s ability to acquire various skills using ABA principles. Her passion for helping others further extended out of the private sector and into the Board of Education, where she also worked as an Educational Assistant at the Ottawa Carleton District School Board.
In 2016, Pearl began working deeper within the community while running a Junior Beginner Hip-hop class for Christie Lake kids. Each class she encourages growth and positivity through “GRIT” and transformative recreation. While bringing her vibrant energy of new school styles and merging it with old school flavor; Pearl has organized and choreographed multiple flash mobs across Ottawa. Pearl has a passion to teach others the importance of the arts, movement, and creativity. Recently, Pearl completed her Bachelors of Education at the University of Ottawa and looks forward to working with Luv2Groove™ and making an impact one dance move at a time!
